The loss against Murang’a Seal was an eye-opener, the Shabana coach - Kenyan News

Shabana coach Sammy Okoth says the 1-0 loss against Murang’a Seal in their opening FKF Premier League was an eye-opener.

He however said there was no reason for alarm. “There is no need to worry because this is just one game. This clearly shows the players the kind of football they will expect in the top-tier league,” said Okoth.

The tactician added: “This should serve as a warning to the players. In the KPL, if you don’t take your chances, you get punished. We wasted several scoring chances and we got punished by our opponents.”

Okoth also said he will slowly introduce his new signings into the first 11. “Most of the new players have not been registered. Once registered, I will integrate them in them slowly but I will not rush the process,” noted Okoth.

During the game against Murang’a Seal, defender Rodgers Aloro was the only new player who started the game while Johana Mwita was introduced in the second half. The club has so far signed 12 players in the pre-season transfer window.

He however said he will seek a quick response from the boys when they play against Ken Kenyatta’s Talanta FC on Saturday. “I identified weak areas, especially in attack that I will work on before we travel to Nairobi on Thursday,” he noted.

After the game against Talanta, the league will take a one-week break before Shabana hosts moneybags Kenya Police and Kariobangi Sharks.
