In a heartbreaking incident, a foreign couple tragically lost their lives when their light aircraft crashed at Kedong Ranch in Naivasha on Thursday evening. The couple, identified as Marcus Dunn and Anne Dunn, were well-known in the local community and were reportedly heading back to their farm in Loldia, Naivasha, when disaster struck.

The ill-fated flight encountered difficulties attributed to poor visibility caused by dense fog, according to Naivasha Deputy OCPD Charles Mwai. Initial investigations suggest that weather conditions significantly contributed to the crash, which ended in the plane plunging into a valley. The remote location of the crash added another layer of complexity to the already challenging rescue and recovery mission.
It took over six hours for police and rescue teams to access the wreckage due to the difficult terrain. Once on-site, they recovered the couple’s bodies, alongside their personal belongings, which included a firearm. Efforts to retrieve the wreckage and investigate the exact cause of the crash are ongoing, with authorities working to piece together the events that led to this tragedy.
The Kedong Ranch area, while known for its scenic beauty, presents challenges for aviation during adverse weather. This incident has raised concerns about air safety, particularly in regions prone to sudden weather changes. The local aviation authority is expected to release an official statement once the investigation is concluded.
The bodies of Marcus and Anne Dunn were transferred to a private mortuary in Naivasha, where family and friends are mourning the loss of the couple. Their tragic passing has left the community in shock, with many remembering the Dunns as kind-hearted individuals who were deeply connected to the area.
As the investigation unfolds, this tragic event serves as a somber reminder of the risks associated with air travel, especially under challenging weather conditions.
