Tusker head coach Charles Okere is elated with the return of midfielder Chris Erambo to the first team fold.

Erambo has missed the last six weeks of action with an ankle injury.

He only played the first two matches of the season before aggravating the injury he picked up during the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign with the national team.

The midfield dynamo made his return as a second-half substitute in last weekend’s match against Gor Mahia at Kasarani.

“It is a good welcome back for Erambo. He is a tactical and technical player with a good command of off-the-ball, and we are happy with his progress and that he is finally back,” noted Okere.

He added: “He got a few minutes at Gor, and it was a good first step in getting fully back in. We are happy with the progress he has made this week. He is a player of national team quality and a great addition to our camp.”

Erambo’s return is a massive boost to the team, especially after the departure of Issa Lumumba and Dennis Iguma’s current injury.

Okere has also provided an update on the Ugandan international who picked up an ankle sprain in last week’s final training session before facing Gor Mahia.

Iguma is a very important player in our setup this season, and it is unfortunate that he got a knock and has been ruled out. He is, however, responding well with treatment, and the medical team is doing its best to ensure he returns soon,” the coach explained.

Iguma will once again miss the trip to Awendo to face Mara Sugar on Saturday, but is expected to return to on-field training next week.
