Popular Gengetone musician Shalkido is fighting for his life in hospital after being involved in a motorcycle accident along Thika Road in the early hours of Sunday, October 5, 2025.

Reports indicate that the accident occurred around 4:00 a.m., shortly after the artist had made a surprise appearance at an entertainment event in Thika. Media personality Oga Obinna, who was among the last people to see Shalkido before the crash, confirmed the incident through social media.

According to Obinna, he and the artist had met at a petrol station along the Thika Superhighway as Shalkido was heading back to Nairobi on his motorbike. “We fueled his bike at around 4 a.m. and rode together until near Kenyatta University. He waved as he took an exit, and we went our separate ways,” Obinna explained.

Hours later, Obinna received devastating news that Shalkido had been involved in a serious crash, suffering severe head injuries. Witnesses reported that the artist was found unconscious with blood oozing from his ears before being rushed to a nearby hospital. He is currently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in critical condition.

Police have since towed Shalkido’s motorcycle to a nearby station as investigations into the cause of the accident continue.

The incident comes just months after the “Ngunde Ngurume” hitmaker made headlines for sharing his personal struggles and financial challenges. Earlier this year, Shalkido opened up about his hardships, revealing that he had resorted to starting a boda boda business to make ends meet.

His appeal touched the hearts of many Kenyans, including comedian Eric Omondi, who mobilized support through his Sisi kwa Sisi initiative to buy the artist a new motorcycle.

Fans and fellow musicians have since taken to social media to send prayers and well-wishes, hoping for Shalkido’s swift recovery.
