After back-to-back starts in the SportPesa League, goalkeeper Brandon Obiero has set himself lofty ambitions for the rest of the campaign.

The goalkeeper was handed an opportunity against Mara Sugar, keeping a clean sheet, and extended it into Friday’s duel against Ulinzi where he once again ensured a clean sheet in a 1-0 win in Murang’a.

And now, the custodian, signed at the start of the season, is pushing himself with ambitious targets.

My target at the start of the season is to keep 13 clean sheets, and if I attain that, then I will be among the top keepers in the league. This means that I have to work hard to play more. I am thankful to have played back-to-back matches, and this encourages me, especially with the two clean sheets,” noted the keeper.

He added; “As a team we want to win each match as it comes and be crowned champions at the end of the season. We need to keep working because nothing comes easy.”

Obiero says he has always been ready to play and was only waiting for his opportunity and has also acknowledged that with the tight competition in the team, everyone has to remain on toes.

“As a player in a team, you will always need to be ready because eventually, an opportunity will come and you have to be ready to take it. It is now up to me to work and prove myself,” he noted.

Obiero added; “Competition in the team is high and healthy, and we push each other to perform well. We have a very strong goalkeeping department with Ochuka (Joseph), who is very experienced, as well as Opondo (Brian), who has been with the national team and trained with some of the best in the country. We always share our experiences, and at the end of the day, we back whoever is picked to start.”
