Wazito retains KPL status - Kenyan News

Wazito on Saturday retained their Kenya Premier League status after drubbing National Super League side Migori Youth 3-0 at Muhoroni Stadium in Kisumu County.

Robert Onyango, Collins Odhiamboi, and Stephen Bwire were on target for the dominant hosts in a highly charged game.  

Migori Youth will now return to the National Super League while Wazito will remain in the Kenya Premier League in the 2023/24 season.

The Kevin Oluoch-coached side will try again next season to gain promotion to the top-tier league after finishing third in the just-concluded season. “We live to fight another day. It was a tough outing,” said Oluoch.

At the same time, former Gor Mahia defender Dennis Ng’ang’a and striker Eric Kapaito have joined Zambia Super League giants Zanaco. They signed one-year contracts. Kapaito last played for Arba Minch City of Ethiopia. In July, Zanaco parted ways with 11 players.

Meanwhile, forward Beja Nyamawi who was the National Super League top scorer with 20 goals has joined Kenya Premier League side Bandari from SS Assad. Bandari parted ways with 12 players in the just concluded season.

Additionally, the FKF Premier League and FKF National Super League pre-season transfer window has been opened. The transfer window was opened on Friday. Clubs are now granted the opportunity to strengthen their squads ahead of the upcoming 2023/24 season, with the window scheduled to close on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 1700hrs.

Notably, the same dates will apply to international transfers.

Clubs will be expected to file their transfer documents electronically in anticipation of the upcoming 2023/24 season, whose tentative commencement dates for the FKF Premier League are on August 26, 2023, and the FKF National Super League on September 16. 2023.
