The Shocking Sequence of Events

The ordeal began on Saturday evening when the teenager, who works as a traditional beer vendor, reportedly brought home a green snake killed by some of his customers. His mother, Emmy Ruto, was stunned to find the dead snake in his pocket.

“He said, ‘Mother, wait, let me show you,’ and then I screamed. He ran off to the stream, ate the whole snake, and drank some water,” Emmy recounted.

Shortly after consuming the snake, the boy began showing signs of distress. Witnesses initially believed he had been bitten by the snake. Villagers quickly intervened, restraining him and rushing him to a nearby dispensary.

As the boy’s condition worsened, he was transferred to Litein Mission Hospital and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). After receiving intensive treatment, his condition stabilized.

Dr. Valentine Mbithi, a physician at Litein Mission Hospital, described the case as extraordinary:
“This is an extremely rare case. We’ve never encountered anything like this before. Thankfully, he has responded well to treatment and is now recovering in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) after being discharged from ICU.”
