Kenya’s EPRA reduces fuel prices: Petrol down by Ksh.1.95, diesel by Ksh.2.20, and kerosene by Ksh.2.40. Learn about the latest costs in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu.

Fuel Prices Reduced Across Kenya in Latest EPRA Review
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced a slight reduction in fuel prices, bringing relief to motorists and households. The price adjustments, effective April 15 through May 14, reflect decreases in the cost of super petrol, diesel, and kerosene.
In Nairobi, a litre of super petrol will now retail at Ksh.174.63, while diesel will cost Ksh.164.86, and kerosene Ksh.148.99. The price reductions are Ksh.1.95 for petrol, Ksh.2.20 for diesel, and Ksh.2.40 for kerosene.
Regional Prices
Fuel prices vary across regions due to transportation and distribution costs:
- Mombasa: Super petrol at Ksh.171.39, diesel at Ksh.161.62, and kerosene at Ksh.145.75 per litre.
- Kisumu: Super petrol at Ksh.174.67, diesel at Ksh.165.24, and kerosene at Ksh.149.42 per litre.
Decline in Landed Costs
EPRA Director-General Daniel Bargoria attributed the price reductions to a decline in the average landed costs of imported fuels in March 2025:
- Super Petrol: Decreased by 4.89%, from US$637.22 to US$606.06 per cubic metre.
- Diesel: Dropped by 6.45%, from US$680.63 to US$636.75 per cubic metre.
- Kerosene: Fell by 6.53%, from US$672.14 to US$628.22 per cubic metre.
Economic Impact
The price adjustment is expected to ease the cost burden on consumers, particularly for households reliant on kerosene and businesses affected by high transportation costs. However, analysts suggest that further reductions in global oil prices could lead to additional relief in the coming months.
