Authorities in Kadibo Sub-County, Kisumu County, are on the hunt for a 19-year-old girl accused of fatally stabbing her 41-year-old uncle in Ong’eche village, Katho Sub-Location. The incident, which has left the local community in shock, reportedly stemmed from a heated confrontation at their home.

What Happened?

According to Katho Location Chief Hesbon Nyabanda, the suspect, a Form Four student, resides with her elderly grandmother. The victim, who had a history of disruptive behavior, allegedly returned home drunk and began harassing the grandmother, sparking the altercation.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the situation escalated when the uncle tried to forcibly take maize flour from the house. In a moment of rage, the teenager reportedly grabbed a knife and stabbed him in the chest. The uncle succumbed to his injuries on the spot due to profuse bleeding.

A Troubled Past

Chief Nyabanda revealed that the deceased had a reputation for causing trouble, particularly under the influence of alcohol. His actions had reportedly strained relations within the household, especially with his stepmother, who is also the suspect’s grandmother.

Community in Shock

Residents of Ong’eche have expressed disbelief over the incident, describing the teenager as quiet and hardworking. Many are struggling to reconcile the tragic events with the girl’s previously calm demeanor.

Ongoing Search

The suspect fled the scene immediately after the stabbing and remains at large. Police are urging anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward to aid in the investigation.

The body of the deceased has been moved to the Ahero Sub-County Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination as authorities continue to gather evidence.
