A 25-year-old man accused of raping and murdering a Grade 8 pupil from Magoto Primary School in Suna West, Migori County, has been lynched by an angry mob. The suspect, identified only as ‘Daddy,’ was taken by force from police custody and killed by locals on Sunday.
Mob Overpowers Police in Pursuit of Justice
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect had been arrested by police, who were conducting investigations at various crime scenes. However, an enraged crowd overpowered law enforcement officers and dragged the man away, executing instant mob justice.
Suna West MCA Erickson Omondi alleged that the suspect had confessed to the crime before the mob lynched him.
Calls for Justice and Security Reinforcement
Omondi urged the police to ensure thorough investigations into the pupil’s murder and take legal action against any other suspects who may be involved.
Meanwhile, local residents have called on the government to establish a police post in the area, citing a rise in insecurity and unresolved killings.
