Authorities in Migori County have arrested a woman accused of severely attacking her husband following an alleged dispute over his plans to marry a second wife. The shocking incident occurred on Saturday night at Kadar-Posi village in Uriri, leaving the man with serious injuries.

According to North Kanyamkago area chief Silvance Owiti, the woman, identified as Emilly Otieno, poured boiling water on her husband, Evance Odhiambo, before using a panga to inflict multiple deep cuts on his head and body. The attack, which took place around 9 p.m., has sent shockwaves through the community.
Neighbor Intervention and Current Status
Neighbors responded to the commotion and rushed Odhiambo to Migori Level Four Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment for severe burns and lacerations. Otieno, meanwhile, is in police custody as investigations continue.
Chief Owiti confirmed that preliminary inquiries suggest the attack was fueled by Otieno’s discovery of her husband’s plans to take a second wife. However, he added, “We are still investigating the exact motives behind the attack to understand what led to this violent outburst.”
Community Reacts to Rising Domestic Conflicts
This incident highlights the growing concerns over domestic conflicts in the region. Local leaders and residents have expressed alarm over escalating tensions in households and are calling for conflict resolution measures to prevent such violent episodes.
Law enforcement officials have assured the public that the matter will be handled with the utmost seriousness, urging couples to seek peaceful resolutions to disputes rather than resorting to violence.
This harrowing case serves as a grim reminder of the need for dialogue and understanding in resolving domestic issues. As investigations continue, authorities are encouraging community members to report signs of escalating domestic disputes early to prevent such tragedies.
