Mukuru Slum Transformation into Mukuru Estate
Spanning 56 acres, the Mukuru Affordable Housing Project is Kenya’s largest of its kind, featuring 13,248 modern residential units. According to Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura, the initiative aims to improve living standards and will now officially be referred to as Mukuru Estate, shedding its previous slum identity.
Mwaura emphasized, “Over 970 beneficiaries have been verified, and today, 1,080 individuals will receive keys to their new homes. This is a moment of celebration for many Kenyans.”
The project represents a critical step toward addressing Kenya’s housing deficit, providing decent homes to those in need while boosting local economic growth through job creation.
