During the 2025 National Prayer Breakfast, Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi delivered an impassioned prayer, lamenting Kenya’s struggles with leadership, youth disillusionment, and moral decay. Her heartfelt prayer served as both a plea for divine intervention and a critique of systemic failures impacting the nation.

Addressing Youth Helplessness

Elachi expressed deep concern over the plight of Kenyan youth, linking their challenges to poor governance, societal decay, and unchecked vices.

“Father, we have left our young people in helplessness—in gambling, in pornography. It is us as leaders who must change the laws,” she prayed.

Her remarks reflected the growing concern about the socio-economic hardships faced by young Kenyans, compounded by unemployment and inadequate support structures.

Confession on Leadership Failures

In a moment of self-reflection, Elachi acknowledged the failure of Kenya’s leadership across the three arms of government. She cited corruption, the neglect of public trust, and the prioritization of personal gains over national welfare.

“We confess as leaders that you gave us a privilege, and we took it as a right. We compromised our boundaries, loved money beyond measure, and failed our people,” she admitted.

Social Media and Its Influence

The MP also raised concerns about the pervasive influence of social media, describing it as a “spirit running the country.” She called for reforms to regulate its misuse and promote positive engagement for national development.

“We pray against the misuse of social media. Father, grant us courage as leaders to stand for what is good for our country and future generations.”

Call for Parental Responsibility

Elachi touched on the role of parents, emphasizing the need for guidance and discipline in raising children.

“We became parents who allowed too much freedom. Today, our children have rebelled, and we are crying. Father, forgive us.”

Prayers for Governance and Integrity

Elachi prayed for the restoration of integrity within government institutions and an end to the culture of corruption, particularly in tenders and resource management. She also called for divine protection and clarity of purpose for the President and his administration.

“We pray for those in the Executive, that they may stop sabotaging the President and instead focus on rightful governance.”

A Charged Prayer Breakfast

The 2025 National Prayer Breakfast was marked by calls for national unity and healing. President William Ruto extended an olive branch to the Kenyan youth, acknowledging past governance missteps and pledging to rebuild trust.

“To our children, if we have erred, we apologize. We aim to forge a relationship that will make our country great,” Ruto stated.
