The National Police Service (NPS) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have revealed that Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi allegedly orchestrated his own abduction in an elaborate plan to stir political tension.

During a press briefing at the DCI headquarters, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and DCI boss Amin Mohamed detailed the findings of their investigation, which uncovered inconsistencies in the MP’s account and exposed the staged nature of the incident.

The Investigation Unveiled

According to DCI boss Amin Mohamed, officers meticulously tracked the MP’s movements leading up to his supposed abduction. “We’ve accounted for all his movements, from attending church to spending the night at a hotel. The evidence clearly contradicts his claim of being forcefully abducted,” Mohamed stated.

The DCI also disclosed that investigators were blocked from interrogating the MP at the hospital, raising further suspicions about the authenticity of the incident.

The Role of Proxies

The probe identified key individuals who allegedly assisted in staging the abduction. Among them were Peter Kiratu, the Juja Constituency Development Fund (CDF) chairman; Cyrus Kieru Muhia, a supermarket owner in Kahawa West; and Karanja Gatana.

Muhia confessed to lending his Subaru Forester to Kiratu, who claimed it was for additional security during a church service in Mugutha. However, on the day of the incident, the vehicle was used in the staged abduction.

Kiratu and Gatana reportedly coordinated the operation, with Gatana driving Kiratu’s Honda CR-V alongside three unidentified men. The MP was allegedly forced into the Subaru Forester amidst staged commotion and screams. The vehicle later rendezvoused with the Honda CR-V near Jacaranda Coffee Research, where Koimburi disembarked.

Political Motives Suspected

The police believe the staged abduction was politically motivated, aimed at gaining sympathy and amplifying tension within the political sphere. MP Koimburi, who is allied with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has yet to publicly address the allegations.

Next Steps

Law enforcement has promised to take appropriate action against the MP upon completing their investigation. “The truth has come to light, and we are committed to ensuring accountability,” Mohamed asserted.
