In a related development, Manyatta Member of Parliament John Mukunji was freed on Ksh 300,000 cash bail, alongside two co-accused, after Senior Magistrate Kipkemoi Koech rejected a police request to detain them for an additional 14 days.

The ruling is seen as a temporary win for the opposition, who argue that the government is targeting critics unfairly under the guise of maintaining law and order.
TIKTOKER KAKAN MAIYO STILL HELD OVER ALLEGED INCITEMENT
Meanwhile, popular TikToker and entrepreneur Godfrey Mwasiaga, famously known as Kakan Maiyo, continues to be held at Muthaiga Police Station following his dramatic arrest by DCI officers.
Authorities claim Maiyo used social media to incite violence against police officers and their families. One video cited by investigators captures him saying:
“Your families will cry the same tears these families cry. No amount of abduction, no arrests, no killings will silence Kenyans.”
Despite these claims, Maiyo’s family insists no formal charges have been communicated, raising concerns about transparency in the arrest process.
“We’ve spoken to him; he says he hasn’t been harmed,” said his uncle Peter Malande. “But this isn’t just about Kakan — it’s about giving Kenya’s youth a voice.”
Davis Silali, a cousin, added: “When young people speak up, it doesn’t mean they’re anti-government. We’re just tired of suffering in silence.”
Maiyo is expected to be arraigned at the Kahawa Law Courts in the coming days.
