Grief has engulfed a family in Kakamega County after a wave of tragedy claimed the lives of three loved ones within just 24 hours, leaving behind sorrow and unanswered questions.
Identified only as Ferdinand, the devastated young man revealed how he lost his father, mother, and sister in quick succession, an ordeal that has left him emotionally broken and struggling to come to terms with the painful reality.
Speaking with raw emotion, Ferdinand shared that his sister was the first to pass away while their mother was admitted to the hospital. The devastating news proved too heavy for his ailing mother, who died immediately after learning of her daughter’s death.
As if that pain was not enough, Ferdinand’s father—shaken and deeply disturbed—fell ill the following day. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was unable to recover and tragically lost his life soon after.
“Kindly help us to share our condolences. My dad, mum, and sister all died and were buried at the same time,” Ferdinand said while struggling to hold back tears.
Photos from the emotional burial ceremony showed three coffins placed side by side under a tent, with grief-stricken family members and mourners gathered to bid their final farewells.
This unimaginable chain of events has left Ferdinand an orphan in a matter of hours, a reality that he admits is difficult to accept or even comprehend.
Similar Tragedy In Kericho
In a separate heart-wrenching case in Kericho County, residents of Ainamoi, Samutet Village, were left in shock after a 19-year-old allegedly killed three family members.
The suspect, identified as Evans Kiprop, reportedly confessed to a friend about his chilling plans before carrying them out. Neighbors revealed that he killed his aunt and sister-in-law before attacking his niece in another house.
Police later found Kiprop dead, adding another layer of grief to the community already shaken by the horrifying incident. Kericho County Commander James Ngetich cited possible triggers such as substance abuse, mental health struggles, and financial disputes, urging families to embrace dialogue and unity to prevent such tragedies.
Both the Kakamega and Kericho incidents have not only left families torn apart but also sparked conversations about the importance of mental health awareness, family support, and community intervention in addressing underlying issues before they turn catastrophic.
